Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan had a meeting with the delegate of German Bundestag Martin Patzold. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Germany to the RA Reiner Morell was also present at the meeting. Presenting in brief the system of management of Yerevan and its priorities the Mayor pointed out that today special steps are being taken within the scope of Yerevan development programs to develop various spheres of urban management. “Taking into account that the highest body of Yerevan development is the Council of Elders which is elected by the residents of Yerevan our policy of management is based on the principles of tight cooperation with the residents and finding gradually the solutions to the raised problems.
The four-year Yerevan development program in fact was worked out following the priorities made by the residents. The circumstance that various problems in Yerevan have many-year history has been particularly taken into account”, stressed Taron Margaryan adding that in parallel they are implementing current and perspective programs which will promote proportional development of the capital.
Referring to the international cooperation the Mayor outlined the problems within the scope of which the Municipality of Yerevan carries out successful cooperation with partner cities. “In the issue of effective management of the capital we attach importance to international experience exchange. From this point of view it is very important to stimulate efficient experience exchange. Yerevan is expanding the frames of cooperation year by year and thus Mister Patzold, I expect that due to your and Mister Ambassador’s support we will establish partnership between Yerevan and the cities of Germany”, said Taron Margaryan adding that today there are a lot of perspectives for experience exchange in the sphere of local self government and in various fields of urban economy.
Expressing gratitude for warm reception the delegate of the German Bundestag Martin Patzold in his turn expressed confidence that together with the Ambassador of Germany to the RA Reiner Morell they will do their best to make the relations between Yerevan and the cities of Germany closer and more practical. “It is a pleasure to be in Yerevan and I should confess, Mister Mayor, that I have got a surprise with the external look of Yerevan and its development rates. The programs and activities the implementation of which I witness here are an obvious evidence that today there are all pre-conditions to carry out bilateral programs and experience exchange. I will do my best to promote partner cooperation between the cities of Germany and Yerevan”, said Martin Patzold.
The Ambassador of Germany Reiner Morell also greeted the position of the Mayor of Yerevan to form and develop relations with the cities of Germany.
