The authorities of Ukrainian town located near border with Poland have officially addressed the EU with a request to sign Association Agreement with the Union, Gazeta.ua reported.

Irina Vereshuk, the Mayor of Rava-Ruska town, said the right to address EU is envisaged by the European charter on local self-government.

She said the residents of the town neither support, nor recognize, and will not obey “anti-Ukrainian decision of the government” to suspend preparation for association with EU, Lenta.ru reported.

A day earlier city council of Lviv accused Ukrainian president and prime minister of ignoring will of the people for their own benefit.
